LGBTQ

Some communities are more likely to experience complex trauma including African Americans, immigrants and LGBTQ folks. In a culture that normalizes heterosexuality, even in the Bay Area, LGBTQ individuals can be rejected and disconnected from their families, their peers, and their religion.

Lesbian, gay, or bisexual youth are much more likely to attempt suicide than heterosexual youth especially when
they lack support and their family rejects their sexuality. Transgender or gender nonconforming individuals can be especially vulnerable to suicide attempts.

WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

I care deeply about supporting minority communities. The approaches I use are powerful in exploring gender or sexuality issues and in building resilience to deal with everyday life in an environment that may not be supportive.
