Therapeutic Approaches
My approach is to be warm and collaborative. I believe that we all have an innate unique ability to heal but sometimes we need support to access this. I support you by exploring your experience in new ways that build on your strengths to create profound and lasting change. I draw on many years’ experience and an in-depth knowledge of a range of approaches that are effective at working through childhood trauma.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based approach that is very effective in treating the effects of traumatic incidents or disturbing experiences. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help you reprocess difficult experiences in a new and less distressing way. EMDR can resolve emotional wounds that have overwhelmed your normal capacity to heal.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a powerful but gentle approach steeped in mindfulness designed to treat the effects of traumatic incidents and relational trauma. It is similar to Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing in the way it is more body-oriented than some traditional therapy approaches, but it also processes cognitive and emotional responses. Sensorimotor psychotherapy helps you make profound changes by integrating your body, mind and emotions.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based approach based on the theory that it is normal for every individual to have a number of subpersonalities or parts as well as a deeper core Self. Different parts become evident for example when we are struggling with making a change in our life and one part of us wants to change and another part resists. This gentle, validating approach is invaluable for increasing self- acceptance, improving your relationship with yourself, and consequently your relationship with others.

The Enneagram is a holistic personality system that identifies nine different personality styles, each with its own strengths and challenges and distinct ways of thinking, feeling and acting. When you understand your personality type, you gain a deeper understanding of your habitual ways of experiencing and behaving. With this awareness you are free to make choices about your life and change the way you relate to yourself and others to create the life you want.
